Drone and Mounted Combat Clarifications [Starfinder]

So does that final line imply that, if you do not have the mod and elect to attempt to ride your drone, you can do so by using a survival check? Or does the drone not formally count as combat trained? I'm afraid I need more clarification, Mr. DisguisedWeasel.
