It's Emerald Spire time! My like My Parent's Basement, we're experimenting with non-traditional PFS during this game day each month. First up, we will attempt over the next several months to complete the Emerald Spire, a sixteen level, higher than normal difficulty dungeon crawl. My hope is that those of us that haven't played any of the levels, can do the complete thing, while others can pick up where they left off in previous expeditions...
Each level gives 3XP and 4PP. The first few levels, from what I've been told, go fast; the last few take longer(and may require multiple game days to complete).
You can play with any legal character that is in the level range of the scenario. If you want to try to do the whole thing with the same character, Paizo has come up with a chart of when to normal track, and when to slow track, and the character can outpace the level tiers. The levels with an asterisk should be slow tracked:
Adventure Legal Character Levels
Level 1: The Tower Ruins 1–2
Level 2: The Cellars 1–3
Level 3: Splinterden 2–4
Level 4: Godhome 3–5*
Level 5: The Drowned Level 3–5*
Level 6: The Clockwork Maze 4–6
Level 7: Shrine of the Awakener 5–7
Level 8: The Circle of Vissk-Thar 6–8
Level 9: The Spire Axis 7–9
Level 10: The Magma Vault 8–10*
Level 11: The Tomb of Yarrix 8–10*
Level 12: The Automaton Forge 9–11*
Level 13: The Pleasure Gardens 9–11*
Level 14: The Throne of Azlant 10–12*
Level 15: Order and Chaos 10–12*
Level 16: The Emerald Root 11–13
Of course, you can play with different characters each level... it's up to you. I do advise that, due to the fact that you never know who will show up each month, your character should be able to fill a few roles(fighting, casting, healing, traps, etc.) Create a competent character... don't do like I do and use an obscure archetype that is practically useless
For the first game day, we'll play levels 1 and 2. After that, it will probably be a single level per session. Because of this, try to have your levelling up figured out for this first day, since we don't want to bog down the flow of the game.
